Wikis are a little something that I've had a vague awareness of for a little while but have usually steered clear of. The main reason is that the biggie, wikipedia.com has seemed to be a repository for much more opinion than fact, at least for the topics on which I have searched in the past.

The world of digital scrapbooking still tickles my interest but alludes me. I play with brushes, alter photos and, if pressed, would say that I combine hybrid digital elements to my paper pages. Afterall, there are few scrappers around who don’t incorporate some elements of the computer world onto their pages either through journaling, photos or art.

Well those of you who’ve used the most famous WIKI site Wikipedia, will have some idea what I’m talking about. WIKIs are collaborative web sites where users get to contribute and add to the content using an easy “click, edit, save” interface. Like a giant community blog that’s easy to work with and enables you to be a contributor the community knowledge pool.

By now I'm sure you have heard of Wikipedia - the on line encyclopedia where anyone can edit any page, anytime. Theoretically, that means that experts in every field can create and edit pages so all of us can benefit from experts all over the world. Although accuracy isn't guaranteed, it is a wonderful resource.

This must happen a lot out there - you have a good idea, and then find someone else has just done it. [Picture the sound of slapping on head].
For the last few weeks, I’ve been collecting together links to free and paid-for online content management systems which provide wikis and other functions, with the thought to move all of my links over to a digital scrapbooking wiki, and allow others to edit and add to it. What I had pictured was something I was willing to sink funds into (whilst I have some, that is) and something a little bigger than the below, but it looks like Tracy has bet me to it. :-p
