Today many more traditional scrapbookers are turning toward their computers to expand their horizons and many digital scrapbookers are looking towards traditional methods to provide more dimensionality to their pages. The result is hybrid scrapbooking.

In a nutshell - Hybrid Scrapbooking combines traditional scrapbooking elements and digital elements on a page.

This is a trend that has probably been occurring since the advent of computers. Many of us, myself included are not fans of our handwriting and have turned to computers for journaling. Printing it out and placing on our layouts. With digital cameras so prolific now, many of us our using photo software to manipulate our photos. The result is hybrid scrapbooking.

There are lots of things you can do with a computer and some traditional elements. Here are some ideas to get your started:

  • Use your computer to tweak your photo - turn it black and white, play with the colors, saturation, etc.
  • Construct your journaling on your computer and print it out to place on your layout.
  • Print out your digital elements for use on your page. You can even tweak the colors in advance and make the perfect embellishment for the paper you want to use.
  • Print out your own digital paper.
  • Create your entire layout digitally and then print it out and paste embellishments like ribbon and buttons on top of those on your layout to enhance it.
  • Use your photo software to doodle on your photo before printing it out.

There are so many others things that you can do. The ideas are really limitless.
