Well let us know about them and let's make them feel special. Create their own personal designer page. It is simple and easy to do.

Add a new page (it's on the left side below the navigation)
Select the designer template - it will help get you started
Name the page - it should be the name of the designer
Once your page has been created just click easy edit and let us know all about them.
Come back to this page and add them to the list below and provide a link back to their own personal page
Finally, let them know about it - send an email.

Biography:
Jen lives in the suburbs of Chicago with her wonderful husband, 3 kids and crazy black lab. Her business background includes web and graphic design with some programming thrown in there. She has a bachelor's degree in both mathematics and computer science.
In 2000, after the birth of her twin girls, Jen began working from home and started her first business, a small web design company, RTech Solutions, Inc. By 2002 RTech had gone from solely a web design company to primarily offering web hosting packages for at-home businesses including hosting one of the first digital scrapbook websites (which is how she discovered digital scrapbooking). At the end of 2004, Jen was a little burned out from the 24/7/365 hosting business and she sold her company a month before her son was born.
Jen soon fell in love with the "digital" side of keeping and sharing memories. In 2005, she began designing her own digital products and shortly after opened up her first online scrapbook store. Over the years, Jen has co-owned a few digi stores and has assisted with "behind the scenes" support and tech work at several other sites (once a computer geek always a computer geek).
In 2007, Jen stepped out into the art licensing arena and started licensing her designs under the name Kristy Valshan, Inc. She has had licensed products featured in Archivers, Sam's Club and CR Gibson. She continues to pursue licensing opportunities for her designs when time permits.
Jen has a passion for being creative digitally whether it be through web design, graphic design or scrapbooking. For her they are all creative outlets and she loves that she can tie all three with her first love – computers!

Digital Scrapbooking Print Challenge

Not all ink is archival. Most at home printers are ONLY archival if you are purchasing certain inks and paper.
Inkjet Prints do not produce the best color. You may notice this especially with Photo Books, faces may look off, maybe a little yellow, and any layout with solid colors will show the inkjet "lines". Go look closely at yours.

Challenge:
1st

We challenge you to print a layout that you have:

a) printed at home
b) printed in a photo book

c) printed at Costco, Sams, Walmart, or any grocery store

Not only will your Persnickety Print look better, it WILL last longer! (our prints are waterproof, scratch & fade resistant)

HOW can they look better? Well, when you use a PRO lab for printing, you get PRO service. Photo Paper is a chemical process. These machines require a TON of maintenance. We balance every roll of paper, change emulsion settings, adjust for EACH size of print. (You will notice that our 12x12 is much sharper than ____ for this reason. Other machines are set at 4x6, when your 12x12 goes through the process, the machines printing settings are set as a 4x6, so you lose sharpness as your print enlarges... come to our store in Utah to see our comparables that customers have brought in

One of the key factors to whether your digital picture looks good when it is printed is its resolution. Resolution simply means how many pixels, in other words how many dots, are in your digital photo. If the resolution is very high (i.e., there are many dots), the picture will look crisp and sharp. If the resolution is low, it will look jagged and rough, especially at large print sizes. All things being equal, a digital camera with more pixels will produce pictures with better resolution than a camera with less pixels. A 1 mega pixel camera means that the camera records 1 million pixels or dots per picture on its highest quality setting. Be aware that if you change your camera's settings to allow it to hold more pictures on the memory device, you may be reducing the number of pixels per picture, thereby affecting the quality when you print your photos. The better the resolution, the larger the file size generally is. Larger files can clog email boxes and take a longer time to download from a web site. As a result, many pictures you see in emails or on non photo-related web sites are often scaled down to a low resolution that is not suitable for high quality prints. If you are using our online photo ordering system, we will tell you if a picture does not meet our suggested resolution standards. When you add an image to our shopping cart, we tell you if the image is OK to print at that size or not. If the quality is going to be questionable, you can get more details about why the resolution is less than what we suggest.

I don’t know about you but I’m an old fashioned girl. I like to be able to touch my scrapbook pages in printed form. Looking at them on the PC screen just doesn’t do it for me. I’m sorry, until they’re printed out they’re just not real. But I don’t want to go to the trouble and expense of taking my 12×12 inch layout files to a professional printer to get it done. I want instant gratification. However, as is the case with most of you I expect, I only have a regular A4 or Letter width printer.

Upsizing your Photos from Scraps of Mind

When I first got my digital camera I knew zippo about the importance of resolution and what the real difference between the ‘good’ quality setting and the ‘best’ quality setting was, other than that I got more photos in the camera memory if I kept it on ‘good’ rather than ‘best’. And when I uploaded the photos on the computer they were at 72dpi but they were 18″ wide. That’s way too big , I thought. So I resized them to something more sensible, BUT not understanding the mysteries of dpi, I left the resolution at 72 dpi. Then, compounding my ignorance, I saved over the top of the original file. Blending your own Backgrounds From Scraps of Mind

Should you print your own digital photographs at home, or take them to a photo lab to be printed? Which will look better and last longer? Is it cheaper to print your digital photographs at home or take them to a store? After working in a photo lab for five years, and owning a great Canon 6-ink tank color printer, I have tried both methods many times. This article will give you a side by side cost, quality and convenience comparison of making digital prints both at home, and at a photo
lab.

The Cost of Digital Prints

If you choose to print your digital photographs at home, you will need to make a few initial investments, including a good quality photo printer. Depending on the brand, size and style of printer, you could spend from $100 on up on your printer. My Canon printer requires 6 colored ink tanks, and to replace each tank costs $10-13. You can print on typing paper, but photo quality paper will produce much nicer looking images. Expect to spend approximately .20-.50 per 4x6 piece of good quality photo paper. Then, add in a little cost for your time to sit and work with the printer to make the prints. How much is your time worth? If you choose to have your digital images turned into prints at your local photo lab, you can expect to pay .15-.29 per 4x6 picture. Remember to add in a little cost for your time to travel to the photo lab to pick up your prints. Most photo labs now offer online services that allow you to upload your digital files from your home computer to the store's website, eliminating a trip to the store to drop off your prints.

The Quality of Digital Images Printed at a Lab

The quality of digital prints made at a photo lab can vary. There are two types of prints that you could receive. The first are ink jet prints. If you sit down at a work station at a store, and the pictures are printing out as you work, they are printed on ink jet paper with ink. These prints may look nice, but they are not archival and will fade over the years. If you spill liquids on them, it will cause the ink to bleed. Also, these are raw prints, usually without any color corrections applied. Sometimes the vibrancy and colors aren't very saturated, and the prints look dull. The other type of prints made at photo labs are silver halide based prints. These prints are processed through the same chemicals as your good old film pictures, and are archival. Since it is completely a chemical process, there's no ink to run or bleed. These type of prints will last hundreds of years if stored properly in acid free photo albums and in photo frames away from direct sunlight. Since the printing of this type of photo is controlled by the lab staff, color corrections can be made to the prints. The lab is able to make your pictures lighter, darker and improve the color saturation. {persnickety prints pro lab}

Both printing at home, and at a photo lab, are convenient. At home, you can print in the comfort of your pajamas at any hour of the day. At a photo lab, you can drop off your order in person, or via a web upload service, and have the staff do the actual printing process for you.
